At Duchesne - Canadian Bilingual School, we follow a bilingual model inspired by Alberta's Canadian curriculum, recognized for its effectiveness in early immersion in two languages, French-English.

Our approach uses English and French as languages of instruction, balancing subjects to build strong proficiency in both while covering all required learning.

In French (primary language for these subjects):

• French as a first language (in-depth language development, reading, writing, communication)

This balanced immersion allocates about 50-60% time in French for core subjects, with the rest in English, per Alberta model guidelines and grade levels.

All students from preschool to Grade 6 receive high-level instruction in music and visual arts from specialists. Student achievements shine at our "Gala Art Fair," a highlight event where children proudly share their work with families and friends, boosting accomplishment and belonging.

Our playful, practical approach combines structured learning with free exploration to ignite imagination and natural curiosity.

Inspired by philosophies like Reggio Emilia, we create secure, opportunity-rich environments where children engage with nature using open materials (wood, stones, shells, fabrics, plant elements, etc.). These foster experimentation, sensory manipulation, and knowledge-building through play and self-directed discovery.

Nutrition at Duchesne Canadian Bilingual School

We prioritize healthy, balanced nutrition, essential for children's overall development: physical, cognitive, emotional, and academic.

We offer two healthy snacks daily and a nutritious lunch, all prepared fresh with quality ingredients (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, dairy or plant-based alternatives). Meals are varied, colorful, and appealing to spark curiosity about new flavors and textures.
